Several confused drivers describe a chaotic scene in emergency calls shortly after the robbery of millions of dollars in gold bars from a truck on a North Carolina interstate.
On Tuesday, Wilson County authorities released three 911 calls describing the aftermath of the heist. All three people describe seeing the guards from the truck tied up.
In the longest of the calls, a male driver says the two guards ran into the road attempting to flag down cars for help.
He stays at the scene, describing it to the dispatcher, for at least 12 minutes while he waits for officers to arrive.
Authorities have said three armed robbers drove up Sunday while the truck was having mechanical problems and stole 275 pounds of gold bars worth $4.8 million.
