Cascade Media Group interviewed Mr. Ronald Gillum as part of the You Are History Project, in conjunction with the Heart of the City Neighborhood Association. Gillum, a dedicated volunteer with the AmeriCorps Senior Foster Grandparent Program run by Reconciliation Services, has significantly impacted at-risk youth in Kansas City since 2010. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, he and his fellow volunteers have continued to support their students through initiatives like a sock and underwear drive. Mr. Gillum has also been using his extra time to write a book about his childhood neighborhood, Leeds. His dedication to mentoring students, especially those struggling academically or behaviorally, has made a lasting difference in their lives
