BLACK HISTORY, NOTABLE BROADCASTERS, FEB. 19: KC Central High School Alumni Marc Gibson (no picture available) was a weekend sports anchor and reporter on KGO-TV in San Francisco. Gibson joined the station as a reporter in 1982 and added weekend sports duties in 1985. He was also a professional musician and actor who had appeared in Off Broadway productions and recorded a jazz album in Paris Gibson also played baseball for two years in the Cleveland Indians farm system.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri around 1940 Gibson earned a master’s degree in political science from New York University and was White House correspondent for Sheridan Broadcasting Network during the first two years of the Reagan administration.
He formerly was a freelance correspondent for Public Broadcasting System, weekend reporter for Independent Network News and anchor-reporter for WBAP Fort Worth. He died in San Francisco in 1991 of an apparent heart attack after a workout.
