STEM initiative designed to engage and inspire youth living in low-income, disadvantaged communities with hands-on experience building robots, bridges, ships, airplanes, etc. The initiative started in Virginia on HUD Father’s Day 2012 with West Point/s Center for Leadership and Diversity in STEM providing on-site expertise and equipment that has consistently created an environment where kids build confidence, self-esteem and team-building skills while creating, programming and competing robots. The organized activities have also resulted in the forging of stronger bonds with parents, family, neighborhoods, businesses and local/state/federal leaders.
