In this photo by A.M. Ahad, female police officers guard the entrance of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party office, where former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has stayed since Saturday night. Police have prevented Zia from leaving her office as part of what they say is enhanced security. Tensions have been high in Bangladesh around the Jan. 5 anniversary of elections held last year that were boycotted by a major opposition alliance led by Zia. She has asked her supporters to continue road, rail and waterway blockades indefinitely.
