On Thursday, June 5 th, 2020, What’s Up Kansas City visited with Andrea Khan, COO of Baraza African Cultures Center and Outreach Director for the Ethnic Enrichment Commission of Kansas City. Our discussion gives some history of the Ethnic Enrichment Commission who, among many other things, brings to Kansas City the amazing Ethnic Enrichment Festival every August in Swope Park. We talk about how COVID-19 is impacting both of these organizations as well as an effort to have a virtual Ethnic Enrichment Festival. We also talked about the mission of Baraza African Cultures Center and what they do in our community in cultural education, social justice, equity & inclusion training, and why it is important for our community.
