KANSAS CITY IS FULL OF TRASH AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT!

This morning I walked from Crown Center north on Main St. to 18 th St and then north on Grand
to the City Market and all I saw was trash, trash, trash!
As I was leaving Crown Center, I spoke to one of the bell hops who told me there was a big
convention in town and they were taking 5,000 rooms. You could see by the big busses parked
around the Westin and the Sheraton how these folks were being shuttled around and how
many of them there were in town this week.
Can you imagine their impression of Kansas City with the streets littered with trash, homeless
camped in the park across the street from the Westin, the Korean War memorial being used as
a shelter and just a general sad state of affairs?
Why doesn’t the Mayor address this problem? There are several nonprofits that get millions
from the city to help the less fortunate. Why don’t they start at 4am and clean the Main streets
of Kansas City so that when city residents wake up, tourists arrive and conventioneers take in
the sites they see a CLEAN, CLUTTER FREE city, not a trash dump which is what we have now.
If I were in charge the first thing I would do would be to give the public works department an
overhaul and make sure cleanliness of the streets in JOB 1. Not worry about bike lanes that are
rarely used but main streets that are the first thing people see when they come to KC.
YOU NEVER GET A SECOND CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION.
The priorities of city government are skewed AND CONTROLLED BY SPECIAL INTERESTS which
do not have the best interests of the average citizen in mind.
Come on Mayor and City Council. DO YOUR JOB! CLEAN OUR CITY.
