NEW YORK (AP) — MSNBC was not saying Tuesday whether it planned disciplinary action against Martin Bashir, who has apologized for what he called deeply offensive comments he made about Sarah Palin.

Bashir apologized Monday on his show for suggesting she be punished for remarks about slavery by having someone defecate in her mouth.

He made his original commentary on Friday — the same day MSNBC suspended Alec Baldwin’s weekly show for two episodes after he was filmed using an anti-gay slur against a photographer in a street encounter.

An MSNBC spokeswoman did not immediately return phone calls Tuesday, or address questions about Bashir’s future via email.
