WADSWORTH, Ill. (AP) — The principal of a northern Illinois elementary school says all the children aboard a school bus survived a morning rollover crash.
Newport Elementary School Principal John Coburn says all 25 students involved in the Friday morning bus rollover near the Lake County village of Wadsworth “are OK.”
He did not elaborate on what injuries the children may have.
Television footage from the scene shows the bus on its side, with two mangled cars nearby. Debris was scattered in an adjacent farm field.
Coburn told The Associated Press that parents are meeting their children at the school.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. about a mile from the school, which has some 400 students in kindergarten through 5th grade
