The Turkish Foreign Ministry says Turkey has agreed to allow U.S.-led coalition forces to use its air bases in the southern part of the country for operations targeting Islamic State group extremists.
A ministry statement says Friday that Turkey’s air force will also be taking part in the operations. It says it expects Turkey’s cooperation to “make a difference” to the campaign against the IS group.
Earlier, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey had agreed to let the U.S. use the Incirlik air base in southern Turkey “within a certain framework.” He did not elaborate.
